PESS Gelli Kayaking

Treorchy Comprehensive School PESS/5 x 60 /E3+ Kayaking

As part of Treorchy Comprehensive Schools’ continued commitment to the PESS project a unique and exciting initiative involving the 5 x 60, E3+ programme and local primary schools , the pupils have begun a Kayaking course every Friday afternoon at Treorchy Comprehensive School.

The initiative will involve Yr 6 pupils from each Primary school attending a 4 week kayaking course lead by Kayaking Instructor Paul Ricards. The pupils will gain accreditation through the ‘Paddle Power’ awards, which are awarded based upon the pupils water confidence and kayaking skills they learn.

The first primary school to complete the course were Gelli Primary School, 27 Yr 6 pupils all gained the ‘Paddle Power’ awards. It is envisaged that at the end of the year all Yr 6 pupils from our local Primary Schools will have completed the Kayaking course and gain the ‘Paddle Power’ level 1.
